NEXO Clinical Coordination

The right support starts with the right level of care.

Some situations require specialized medical, psychiatric or psychological care. NEXO Recovery can work around that care, helping connect professional treatment with everyday life.

Care · Coordination · Continuity

Glass and concrete architecture with precise lines

Level of care

Not every situation requires the same response.

Deciding what kind of support is appropriate means considering several areas together — never just one.

The purpose is to understand the situation before deciding what type of support may be appropriate.

  • 01Current substance use
  • 02Withdrawal risk
  • 03Physical health
  • 04Mental health
  • 05Safety
  • 06Relapse history
  • 07Living environment
  • 08Family situation
  • 09Current treatment
  • 10Ability to function in daily life

The care ecosystem

Recovery works better when the different parts of the system are connected.

The individual

Recovery support

NEXO's role: structure, implementation and continuity in daily life.

Not every person needs every professional. The system is defined case by case.

Clear roles

Different roles. One coordinated direction.

NEXO Recovery does not replace appropriate medical, psychiatric or psychological care.

The right professional at the right moment.

Depending on the case, location and availability, NEXO may coordinate with:

These professionals are independent and identified case by case; they are not part of NEXO.

When medical care comes first

There are situations where companionship should not be the first step.

  • Severe withdrawal symptoms
  • Acute intoxication
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Seizures
  • Severe medical instability
  • Suicidal risk
  • Psychosis
  • Serious risk of harm

In situations like these, emergency or appropriate clinical services take priority. NEXO may become involved later as part of continuity, recovery support and reintegration.

When NEXO may not be the right fit

Sometimes the right decision is referral, not engagement.

Timely referral is part of professional, responsible work.

NEXO may determine that another service should come first when:

  • 01Medical stabilization is required
  • 02A higher level of psychiatric care is needed
  • 03Residential treatment is indicated
  • 04Immediate safety cannot be appropriately supported
  • 05The requested service falls outside NEXO's role

NEXO principle

Treatment is one environment. Life is another.

Beyond stabilization

Stabilizing the body and rebuilding everyday life are not the same thing.

For some individuals, medical stabilization or withdrawal management may be an important first phase. But after stabilization, challenges often remain around:

  • Daily structure
  • Relationships
  • Work
  • Environment
  • Stress
  • Sleep
  • Social situations
  • Decision-making
  • Family dynamics
  • Long-term routines

This is where NEXO's daily-life support may become relevant.

Recommendations in real life

A recommendation only helps if it can be implemented.

NEXO's role may be to help the individual organize daily life around appropriate professional recommendations.

NEXO does not independently alter medication or clinical treatment plans.

A clinician recommends:

  • 01Structured sleep
  • 02Regular appointments
  • 03Reduced exposure to certain environments
  • 04Medication adherence
  • 05Daily routine
  • 06Stress reduction
  • 07Family boundaries

Before, during and after

Treatment is one environment. Life is another. The transition matters.

The handoff

The days after treatment can matter as much as the days inside it.

Returning to… the same home · the same work pressure · the same relationships · the same access · the same travel schedule · the same social environment …may recreate old pressures. NEXO can help prepare and support that transition.

Communication with professionals

Coordination without unnecessary information sharing.

With appropriate consent, NEXO may communicate with involved professionals around:

  • 01Appointments
  • 02Practical implementation
  • 03Relevant observations
  • 04Transition planning
  • 05Daily-life challenges
  • 06Continuity of care

Principle: minimum necessary information.

Consent

Coordination is based on consent.

For adult clients, information does not automatically move between NEXO, family, physicians, therapists or other providers.

  • NEXO
  • Family
  • Physicians
  • Therapists
  • Other providers

Communication follows

  • 01Appropriate consent
  • 02Safety requirements
  • 03Legal obligations
  • 04Professional boundaries

Where immediate safety is at risk, different legal or professional obligations may apply.

Privacy-sensitive cases

Complex lives often require more careful coordination.

  • Multiple residences
  • International travel
  • Company responsibilities
  • Household staff
  • Public visibility
  • Security concerns
  • Complex family structures
  • Multiple medical providers

These factors may require more careful logistical planning and more limited information sharing. Discretion is a working principle, not a promise of absolute secrecy.

Reassessment

The level of support should change when the situation changes.

↑ More support

  • Instability
  • Relapse
  • Major transition
  • Increased clinical risk

— Stable

  • More responsibility
  • Greater independence
  • Stronger routines
  • Reduced support

NEXO engagements are reviewed over time rather than assuming the same level of support indefinitely.

How a case begins

Start with understanding, not assumptions.

  1. 01

    Confidential consultation

    Understand the current situation.

  2. 02

    Initial review

    Identify needs and immediate concerns.

  3. 03

    Clinical input

Where necessary, involve appropriate qualified professionals.

  4. 04

    Support design

    Define NEXO's role.

  5. 05

    Coordination

Connect daily-life support with the broader recovery plan.

NEXO Recovery is not an emergency service.

If there is immediate danger, severe intoxication, severe withdrawal symptoms, suicidal risk, psychosis, violence or another medical or psychiatric emergency, contact local emergency services immediately or go to an appropriate medical facility.

Before choosing the support, we need to understand what level of care the situation requires.

The first conversation is private and designed to understand the situation, identify appropriate next steps and determine where NEXO may fit.
